Eid - day 2.

as mentioned in my previous entry, today we went back to Rawang again to continue where we (or simply put, 'our stomachs') left off. :P hehee. our first destination was the graveyard - it has always been a ritual for us (and other fellow kampung folks in Sg.Choh) to visit the grave on 2nd day of Eid. but some do so on the first day instead, well.. there's no hard and fast rules about it. you can go whenever you wish to kan :)

biasanya kalau lawat kubur ni, kami akan wajib ziarah kubur arwah atuk & nenek on both sides. kadang2 tu tgh2 ziarah kubur, terserempak dgn org kampung yg lain plak. slalunya bila jadi mcm tu, org2 kampung i ni akan amik peluang utk beraya sekali. sempat la plak bermohon2 maaf kat kubur tu. kirenye jimat masa la, tak perlu nak visit rumah org kampung tu satu2 kan..bak kate omputih, you kill two birds with one stone lah kirenye. ;)

lepas je ziarah kubur tadi, we all started our quest utk beraya kat rumah sedara2 yg jarang2 jumpa..slalunya setahun sekali je la nak jumpe kan. sbnrnye, my siblings and i tak kenal sgt org2 kampung kitorg..it's because we don't live there since we were small. we were born and raised in KL, but from time to time we do go back to Rawang to visit our grandparents while they were still alive ( in fact we used to do so almost every weekend). sebab tu lah, bile dah besar2 ni..bila beraya kat rumah nenek2/atuk2 saudara, kebanyakan nye tak kenal kitorg pun (and kitorg pun tak bape igt kat dorg) sbb jarang jumpe. dorg cuma tahu kitorg ni anak my mom and dad je la kan. and most of them think that we (my siblings & i) can't converse in Bangkahulu at all (but indeed we can! kitorg hari2 pun dgr our parents ckp Bangkahulu so it kind of grew on us. though takla tere sgt speaking Bangkahulu ni, tp if ade org nak ngumpat kitorg in Bangkahulu - well, u guys better think twice! haha :P).


so tadi dpt la kitorg beraya kat 5 rumah saudara mara. tp of course la tak dpt angpow sbb obviously kitorg ni besar gajah dah..hahah. mmg tahun ni raye tak kutip angpow langsung. tapi takpe2..raya shouldn't be just about angpows right? lgpun segan la, dah leh jadi mak org dah pun..hihihi..lepas penat2 beraya tu, my dad nak tgk ktorg nye rumah hinggap yg i ceritakan hari tu. rumah hinggap ni ala2 rumah terbiar la kan, tak berpenghuni. dulu my parents bought the house sbb senang for us nak rehat2 dan tido time2 raya mcm ni. tak payah la nak susah2 berhimpit2 kat rumah arwah nenek i (sbb although rumah arwah nenek i tu besar, tp adik beradik my dad pun ramai - 10 org you! tu tak campur lagi dgn anak2 masing2, then cucu2 masing, and cicit2 pun dah ramai dah..mau tak runtuh rumah tuh!). tapi tu la, mcm i kate..sejak dah takde nenek & datuk ni, kitorg mmg tak tido lagi kat rumah ni..mmg tak berpenghuni la kirenye. cat pun dah luntur, habuk toksah cite la. cuma ada la my parents upah org datang utk potong rumput, bersihkan rumah tu setiap 2 minggu. so, not so bad la kan?


ni la rumah hinggap kitorg tu. (sile abaikan my sister yg perasan model itu ye. huhu)



" underneath pokok klapak i will wait for you"...hihihiih... ni pokok kelapa yg tumbuh rimbun sgt2 dpn rumah hinggap kitorg ni. sempat pulak my parents posing. hehee.



by the time we were done, it was alrdy late afternoon. we rushed home, and then shortly after, i dgn baju2 raya i terus pegi Jusco nearby our house ni utk top up brg2 nak masak sempena raya ni. kitorg belum masak rendang lagi sejak hari tu (sbb tukang masak ni kan ade angin malas sekijap itu hari maa..:P), jadinye ni baru nak qada' balik angin malas i tu la. smpai umah td je dah kol 5pm, i shopping2 brg dah kol 6pm. terus rush balik rumah and masak rendang dlm masa 1 jam (sbb my parents were fasting today so i kene masak cpt2!). fuh mmg longgar lutut eden. nasibbaik la berjaya masak sblm azan maghrib td.


anyways tadi i masak rendang daging minangkabau:
ni mase tgh biar rendang tu menggelegak. kalo masak rendang ni kene hati2 sikit, sbb die meletop2 tu ha. tak pasal2 bertempek2 plak kat baju kan.



rendang slalunye i masak over 1 hour sbb nak kasi die betul2 kering dan warna die jadi darker. tp td sbb kesuntukan masa, terpaksa la make do with apa yg dapat je kan.



Rendang daging minangkabau. (tp bukan org minang je, org Bangkahulu pun masak rendang sama je kot rase die. hehee)






makan dgn lemang baru sedap. tak pun ngan nasi himpit- terbaekkk! mmg bakal suami lalu dpn mata pun tak heran dah weiii..uhuk222..;P


Resipi rendang daging minangkabau:


Bahan2:
Untuk dikisar:
-7 ulas bawang merah kecil
-4 ulas bawang putih
-3 inci kunyit hidup
-7 tangkai cili kering yg sudah direndam
-4 batang cili merah besar
-6 batang serai
-4 inci lengkuas
- 3 helai daun limau purut
daging - ikut suka berapa byk (budget2 sendiri la ye)
1 cawan santan pekat
satu peket kerisik (desiccated coconut)
daun kunyit - dihiris halus
daun limau purut - dihiris halus



cara2:
-tumis bahan yg diblender sehingga naik bau dan pecah minyak
-masukkan daging. kacau sebentar sehingga rempah sebati
-masukkan santan dan kacau rata. masak sehingga santan pecah minyak
-masukkan daun limau purut dan daun kunyit yg dihiris halus.
-perasakan dgn garam dan gula secukupnya.
-apabila rempah/gravy sudah separuh kering, boleh masukkan kerisik (utk gelapkan warna rendang and gives more 'body' to the dish)
- apabila rempah sudah hampir kering, boleh la angkat dan hidangkan dgn ketupat/nasi himpit/lemang. sapa tak suka rendang kering, tak perlu tunggu lama sgt.



sori la kalau dlm resipi yg i letak ni, sukatan i tak berapa nak betul sgt. sbbnye i ni kalo masak lauk pauk, i tak suke ikut sukatan resipi. tak kire la org tu cakap 500gram ke, 3 oz ke, 4 sudu kecil/sudu besar ke, i mmg akan taram ikut suka hati i je. i dont like being rigid when cooking, except when im making cookies/baking cakes/making desserts. ha, kalau tiga benda alah ni mmg i akan stick to the recipe most of the time. sbb kemungkinan utk resipi tu tak jadi is bigger kan. kalau masak lauk pauk, insya allah u won't go wrong sgt if u dont follow the recipe exactly. kalo tak caya tanya sifoo yg tersohor tu, i.e Cik Mat Gebu - takde tulah kan kalo selalu 'derhaka' kan Cik Mat? heheeee..;)

  1. Betul2..setuju sangat, resipi cuma panduan, yang lebih tu pepandai sendiri lah nak buat macam mana pun, janji jangan pingsan lepas makan, Dr juga yang susah nanti...erkk, jgn lah panggil sifoo, segan nihh..rasa malu lahh...

  2. cik mat: hahaa..kalo pengsan tu parah cik mat. bahye..nnt tukang masak terus kene banned. huhu. alah betul ape.. cik mat kire sifoo sy la, sbb sy byk je refer resipi cik mat dari zaman student dulu2 lg ;)
